Sakai 21 - How do the version numbers 12 and 21 relate to one another?

This help document for Sakai Demo is under revision. For assistance with the current version of Sakai, see Sakai 12 Help.

Sakai at PLU will be upgraded from version 12 to version 21 on August 20, 2022. For more details, see: How can I prepare for the Sakai upgrade?

How do the version numbers 12 and 21 relate to one another?

After the release of version 12 at PLU, the numbering scheme for Sakai versions had changed in order to track with a yearly release schedule. The version number for a Sakai release now reflects the year in which that version was first released. For instance, the next major Sakai release after Sakai 12 was branded as Sakai 19, where the “19” corresponds with an initial release in 2019. Major releases after Sakai 19 have been Sakai 20 and Sakai 21. When PLU upgrades from 12 to 21, this process will incorporate features introduced in Sakai 19, 20, and 21.
