How do I record audio to embed within a text box?

Warning: The rich-text editor's audio recorder will not save audio responses for students when they are taking an assessment in the Tests & Quizzes tool. Instructors who want students to record audio responses within such assessments should create specific audio response questions instead of using a short answer/essay question. The audio response question types in Tests & Quizzes make use of an audio recording utility distinct from the rich-text editor's.

Position the cursor.

Position your cursor in the text box at the point you want to embed the audio recording.

Click the Record Audio Clip icon.

Click the the Record Audio Clip icon.

This displays the Audio Recorder dialog box

When ready to begin recording, click the Start recording button. If prompted by your browser, allow any permission requests to use your microphone. The recorder can record clips of up to 3 minutes of audio. When finished, click the Stop recording button. After which, you can click Preview recording to listen to your recording. If you are not satisfied with this recording, you can click Start recording to try again.

Post your recording.

Post your recording.

If you are satisfied with the recording, click Post recording. It may take a few seconds or a while for the recording to be posted. When the posting process is finished, it will display a playable clip of audio within the default audio player that is supported by the audience’s web browser.
