Flushing DNS Cache - Mac
How to flush the DNS cache on a Mac computer.
- Open Terminal:
- Click the magnifying glass in the top-right menu bar to open Spotlight Search, type "Terminal," and press
Enter.
- Click the magnifying glass in the top-right menu bar to open Spotlight Search, type "Terminal," and press
- Enter the command:
- Copy and paste the following command into the Terminal window:
sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder.
- Copy and paste the following command into the Terminal window:
- Press Enter:
- Press the
Enterkey.
- Press the
Enter your password: When prompted, type your Mac's administrator password. Note that the password will not be visible as you type.Press Enter again: Press Enter one more time to execute the command and flush the DNS cache.
