This help document for Sakai Demo is under revision. For assistance with the current version of Sakai, see Sakai 23 Help.

Sakai at PLU will be upgraded from version 23 to version 25 on August 22, 2026. For more details, see: How can I prepare for the Sakai upgrade?

How do I give the same score (e.g., 0) to all students with no submission for an assignment?

By default, students with No Submission for an assignment will have a blank, or null, grade. The assignment will not count in their final grade until a grade has been entered for them. You can assign the same grade, such as 0, to all students who did not submit an assignment.

Note: For grades to propagate to Gradebook or to be released to students, the instructor must release the assignment’s grades.

Go to Assignments.

Select the Assignments tool from the Tool Menu of your site.

Select to grade an assignment.

Click the Grade option associated with an assignment.

Select criteria for applying a grade.

Select the criteria for which students to apply a grade. Check either Students without a Grade, Students without a Submission, or both.

Enter a score and click Apply.

Enter a score (e.g., 0) in the text field and click Apply.

The entered score will be applied to students based on the criteria selected above.

Note: For grades to propagate to Gradebook or to be released to students, the instructor must release the assignment’s grades.
