How do I add an in-line question to a Lessons page?
Instructors can add either a Multiple Choice question or a Short Answer / Fill in the Blank question directly to a Lessons page. The questions can be used for the purposes of polling or responses may be graded.
The behavior of the Short Answer / Fill in the Blank question type depends on whether or not the instructor adds possible correct answers for the question. If one or more correct answers are defined for the question, the question will behave like the ‘Fill in the Blank’ question type in the Tests & Quizzes tool. Otherwise, open-ended answers are expected, and the question will behave like the “Short Answer / Essay” question type in Tests & Quizzes. Instructors can manually grade the open-ended responses if desired.
Go to a desired Lessons page.
Click on the Lessons page title in the Tool Menu to display the page.
Note: The default or blank Lessons page contains text and images that explain the basic functionality of the Lessons tool.
To add a multiple choice question:
Click Add Content, and then select Add Question.
From the Add Content drop-down menu, select Add Question.
Select Multiple Choice.
Add the question text and any additional settings as needed.
- Enter the question text. Because it will display as Heading 3 text, limit the use of rich-text to boldface or italics to express emphasis.
- Enter the possible answer choices.
- Place a checkmark to the left of the correct answer. (If this is a Multiple Choice poll with no correct answer, you may leave the correct answer check boxes blank. If you select multiple correct answers, note that students can only select one option; students will receive full credit if they select one of the possible answers you specify as correct.)
- Click Add New Answer to add additional Multiple Choice answers if needed. (Optional)
- Check the box for Show students a graph of how others responded after they answer the question if you want the question/poll results to be displayed. (Optional)
