WordPress, version 5.7. The instructions in this guide apply to sites built with the PLU Digital Humanities Lab version of WordPress and may not translate to sites built with or other versions.

A few types of WordPress sites are available. The process for logging into and setting up a site will depend on the type of site being used. / PLU Digital Humanities Lab is the official WordPress site, and provides access to the WordPress software that can be used to build a self-hosted website. The PLU Digital Humanities Lab has limited hosting available. Interested faculty can contact for more information. We recommend the DH Lab version of WordPress for websites built as part of a class.

All DH Lab WordPress sites have "" in the URL. Students who are assigned a DH Lab WordPress site will be issued a URL along the lines of [sitename], such as: "".

All instructions in this guide apply to the WP Admin dashboard. To access this view in a site, click WP Admin from the bottom of the menu to the left.

User Privileges

WordPress has two main user roles: administrator, and author. Administrators have full control over a site, such as the ability to adjust the permission settings of other users, and customize the look of the site. Non-administrator users should contact the site admin for permission or access issues.
